Caligraft is a project by Ricard Marxer Pinon that uses computers to effect and create fonts. Ricard says that “the main idea behind this work is to explore a new dimension of textual representation. I try to consider the different possibilities of glyph, words and text representation and distribution in space and time.” The main objective of his work is to cut the gap between people and technology. This specific piece of his is called Hilos. It is based on the idea of “particles swimming along the character outlines.” Movement and positioning of the mouse controls the way the “particles” react.
